U.S. House Passes Defense Bill Expanding Israel Technology Cooperation

U.S. House members passed the $1.14 trillion fiscal 2027 National Defense Authorization Act by 216-212. Section 219 would establish a U.S.-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative and require the defense secretary to designate an executive agent to coordinate bilateral research, development, testing, evaluation, integration and industrial cooperation. The provision also directs work on jointly developed and Israeli-origin technologies, procurement pathways, co-production, joint training and information sharing. The House bill now heads into negotiations with the Senate, whose version has not yet passed, before any final measure can become law.
