More Than 4,000 Families Register for 19 Northern Samaria Communities

More than 4,000 families registered in recent months for a program establishing 19 communities in northern Samaria, the Samaria Regional Council and Amana said Wednesday. First-stage capacity is limited to hundreds because of space, budget and infrastructure constraints, leaving thousands outside the initial community groups. About half the applicants live in Judea and Samaria, while roughly 30 percent are from central Israel and Jerusalem; applicants also include Jewish families in Switzerland and Miami considering aliyah. Council head Yossi Dagan said the council is working to expand the program and accommodate additional families in later stages.
