First Families Expected at Mitzpe Darga in Judean Desert Within Months

Gush Etzion Regional Council says the first families are expected to establish Mitzpe Darga within the coming months, with a founding group now being assembled. The planned community will rise east of Tekoa in the Judean Desert, roughly six kilometers from the Dead Sea, making it the council's first community in the heart of the desert. Council head Yaron Rosenthal said the permanent presence is intended to strengthen security, protect open land and limit unauthorized construction in the sensitive area. Earlier council presentations described a community planned for about 500 families and linked it to Gush Etzion's eastward development.
