Israel's Nature and Parks Authority warned Thursday morning that extreme heat forecast for the weekend and Sunday could force hiking-trail closures nationwide. The authority said lighting fires is prohibited in nature reserves and national parks, except at designated approved locations, under the Fire and Rescue order and because of wildfire risk. Israel Electric Corporation asked the public to report torn power lines, branches near electrical lines or fires close to company facilities through hotline 103, its website or WhatsApp. Forecasts call for heavy to extreme heat stress nationwide on Saturday, when temperatures are expected to peak.
