Magen David Adom said its Negev Region 101 dispatch center received a report at 12:36 p.m. Friday that a child had drowned in a swimming pool in Ofakim. Medics and paramedics treated the 11-year-old at the scene and evacuated him to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. The emergency service described his condition as moderate when he was taken to the hospital. Its initial public update did not identify the boy, name the pool or provide further details about how the drowning occurred or the treatment he received.
