Beitar Jerusalem Advances in Europe After Penalty Shootout Win

Beitar Jerusalem reached the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round in Ploiesti, Romania, after defeating AEK Larnaca 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Larnaca won the second leg 3-2 after 120 minutes, leaving the tie level at 3-3 on aggregate before goalkeeper Miguel Silva saved two penalties. Omer Atzili scored both Beitar goals during regulation, including an 87th-minute equalizer, after the Jerusalem club had twice fallen behind. Beitar will face Austria Vienna next, hosting the first leg in Romania on August 6 before the return match in Vienna on August 13.
