Israeli Officials Welcome Hamas Arms Offer but Warn Terms Remain Unresolved

Israeli political and security officials welcomed Hamas’s declared readiness to surrender weapons but cautioned that implementation terms remain unresolved. They said no agreement exists on where the arms will be stored, how quickly they will be transferred or who will receive them, and estimated that the process would take at least one year. Israel demands complete demilitarization and opposes any withdrawal from the Yellow Line before a verified weapons handover begins. Hamas says heavy weapons would be collected and stored under Palestinian administration only after Israel ends military operations and withdraws, leaving the sequence and enforcement mechanisms unsettled.
