Projectile Strike Disables Tanker off Oman

UK Maritime Trade Operations said a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile about 11 nautical miles northeast of Limah, Oman, early Saturday. The hit damaged the engine room and left the vessel not under command, meaning it could not maneuver as required under maritime rules. Authorities did not immediately identify the tanker, its flag or the attacker. The incident occurred near the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran war, where repeated attacks on commercial shipping have kept the waterway central to U.S. and Israeli efforts to protect regional navigation.
