Chile and Honduras Return Ambassadors to Israel After October 7 Recall

President Isaac Herzog received the credentials of Chilean Ambassador Gabriel Alejandro Zaliasnik Schilkrut and Honduran Ambassador José Luis Núñez Bent at the President's Residence in Jerusalem on Monday. Their presentations marked both countries' first ambassadorial return to Israel since they recalled their envoys after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack and the ensuing Gaza war. The two were among six incoming ambassadors received with national anthems and an IDF honor guard. In his meeting with Zaliasnik, Herzog said regional dialogue could advance through President Donald Trump's Board of Peace, while insisting that Hamas must be completely disarmed.
