U.S. Iran Blockade Redirects 35 Commercial Vessels

U.S. Central Command said its Iran blockade had redirected 35 commercial vessels as of August 2, disabled two vessels and boarded two more. It released footage of a U.S. Marine Corps F-35C launching from the USS Abraham Lincoln while the carrier crossed the Arabian Sea. The military said the carrier was supporting the blockade as it enforced restrictions on Iranian maritime traffic. The operational update came as renewed U.S.-Iran negotiations were being prepared, while Tehran continued to say the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed.
