Lili Ben Ami Joins Yisrael Beytenu Ahead of October Election

Lili Ben Ami, founder of the Michal Sela Forum against domestic violence, announced Wednesday that she will run in the October 27 election with Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu. Ben Ami established the forum after her sister, Michal Sela, was murdered by her partner in 2019, and she promoted legislation with party lawmaker Oded Forer to strip custody from parents who kill or gravely harm family members. She had entered the Labor party primaries before switching to Yisrael Beytenu, saying the October 7 attack shifted her toward the right. Ben Ami praised Liberman as a strong and courageous leader, pledging to help make Israel first in security and innovation while strengthening education and mutual responsibility.
