The UK Charity Commission launched a statutory class inquiry into eight unnamed charities over allegations that charitable funds supported activities or projects in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, which British policy calls illegal settlements in Palestine. The regulator said it will examine where money was spent, whether the spending furthered each charity's purposes, and whether assets or beneficiaries are at risk. It emphasized that opening the inquiry is not a finding of wrongdoing. The commission said it may expand the inquiry, has shared its scope with police and tax authorities, and will consider naming the charities when it publishes findings.
