IDF Rules Out Terror at Ofarim After Security Officer Fires at Car Thief

The IDF Spokesperson said the Ofarim incident ended with no concern of a security event, closing the suspected terrorist infiltration reported earlier Saturday in the Binyamin Brigade sector. Security forces had been pursuing a suspicious vehicle when it broke into the community, after which the suspect stepped out and a security officer carried out a suspect arrest procedure that included firing at him. The suspect was detained and transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Police. Sharon Alfasi, who heads the Beit Arye Ofarim council, said the man was a car thief from the territories who rammed the entrance barrier, drove over spike strips and fled on foot.
