IDF Reviews Footage of Soldier Striking Palestinian in Idna

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of two Israeli soldiers in combat helmets and loaded tactical vests standing on dry open ground beside an armored military jeep, the nearer soldier holding a rifle upright across his chest and the second carrying his weapon low at the left, with a white civilian car, low brush and a pale bright sky behind them, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue chalk and pastel strokes with cross-hatching on textured paper.

The IDF said the conduct of its forces at Idna, in the southern Hebron hills, is under review after footage showed an Israeli soldier striking a Palestinian man. In the video the man lies on the ground while a soldier presses a knee onto his stomach, and two Israeli civilians are also seen hitting him. The military said troops had been sent to the edge of Idna after reports of friction between Israeli civilians and Palestinians in the village. Separately, four Palestinians were reported wounded at Wadi Rahim near Susya, where Israeli residents said stones were thrown at a shepherd who had left a nearby farm with his flock.
