IDF Probe Points to Old Charge at Majdal Zoun, Hezbollah Tampering Not Ruled Out

The IDF is investigating the blast that killed reservists Harel Birenstock and Tamir Vaknin of Battalion 2855 and seriously wounded four others at Majdal Zoun, between Tyre and the border. Scene findings showed a detonation stronger than a standard device, and Air Force examiners ruled out a months-old dud that fell over 100 meters away. Galilee Division commander Brig. Gen. Yuval Gaz determined that troops scanned the building and left, then were passing it again when the charge fired. The army increasingly assesses the device was old, while Northern Command says Hezbollah is active there and may have handled it. Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo has not closed the probe.
