Austria and Greece Join Diplomatic Push on Stalled U.S.-Iran Talks

Austria and Greece have joined diplomatic efforts around stalled U.S.-Iran talks as Washington seeks an end to the war. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger on Tuesday and spoke with Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis on Wednesday; both European ministers then spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday. The State Department said Iran was discussed but denied Rubio asked them to carry messages to Tehran. Austria offered Vienna as a venue for future talks, while Greece emphasized freedom of navigation and maritime security amid negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz.
