Tomer Shuster Breaks Israeli 100m Backstroke Record at European Championships

Israeli swimmer Tomer Shuster broke the national men's 100-meter backstroke record at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, clocking 53.39 seconds in Saturday's heats. His time cut 0.21 seconds from the 53.60 mark jointly held by Yakov Toumarkin and Adam Maraana, and placed him sixth overall for the semifinals after the two-swimmers-per-country rule. Shuster finished second in Heat 5. Four more Israelis advanced from the morning session: Miron Haruti, Eitan Ben Shitrit, Alexey Glivinskiy and Anastasia Gorbenko.
