Freed Hostage Eliya Cohen Marries Nova Survivor Ziv Abud After 505 Days in Captivity

Eliya Cohen and Ziv Abud married Wednesday evening at Ronit Farm before about 1,000 relatives and friends, after a decade together and 505 days in which he was held hostage in Gaza. Former Chief Rabbi David Lau officiated the chuppah, and singer Amir Benayoun accompanied the couple as they entered. Both were in the shelter near Re'im on October 7, 2023, where Aner Shapira threw back grenades and saved many of those inside before he was killed; Abud survived and Cohen was abducted. The couple asked Shapira's father, Moshe, to write their ketubah. They called the wedding a closing of a circle that is difficult to describe in words.
