Iranian officials have weighed striking United States military targets in Europe if President Trump escalates the war against Iran, according to a report published Wednesday. The proposals would extend Iranian retaliation to American assets beyond the Middle East, and the locations under consideration included U.S. military assets in Cyprus and Bulgaria. The account was attributed to two Iranian regime sources and describes proposals under discussion rather than a decision to act. The report said many in Tehran now regard renewed conflict as inevitable. Bulgaria is a NATO member, and both it and Cyprus belong to the European Union.
