IDF Says Two Syria Suspects Gathered Intelligence on Troops Before Release

The IDF said troops operating in southern Syria detained two suspects who were gathering intelligence on Israeli soldiers during a regular operation, then released both shortly afterward. The confirmation followed earlier reporting that the operation took place at dawn on August 19 in Jbata al-Khashab, in northern Quneitra, where a force of about 15 military vehicles searched several homes. Syrian accounts identified the two men as relatives Muadh Suleiman and Qutayba Suleiman. The military said its forces continue to operate in southern Syria to counter terrorism. No casualties were reported.
