Iran Army Says ‘Offensive’ Doctrine Means Immediate, Broader Retaliation

Iranian Army spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia said Iran gradually shifted its military doctrine from defensive to offensive during what he called the 12-day and 40-day wars. He said the change does not establish a blanket policy of preemptive strikes, but means Tehran would answer aggression immediately and on a wider scale. Akraminia said damaged military systems had been repaired, new systems introduced and command structures reorganized to accelerate decisions and responses. He also described the Strait of Hormuz as having decisive geopolitical influence for Iran’s foreign-policy objectives.
