U.S. Forces Redirect 68 Commercial Ships Under Iran Blockade

U.S. Central Command said more than 20 U.S. warships are supporting the American blockade against Iran. As of August 21, U.S. forces had redirected 68 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two to ensure compliance. CENTCOM released the figures alongside a photograph of U.S. sailors watching an MH-60R Sea Hawk land aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Ross, DDG 71. The official statement did not identify the affected vessels, their cargoes, any casualties, damage details or the locations of the enforcement actions.
