Fewer Than 20 Commodity Vessels Cross Hormuz Over Weekend

Fewer than 20 commodity vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend, with 13 transits on Saturday and an initial count of four on Sunday as blockades restricted energy shipments. The Sunday figure may rise because some ships traveled with transponders off. Eight very large gas carriers crossed over three days, including two carrying Iranian liquefied petroleum gas. UK maritime data recorded 103 inbound and 89 outbound vessels in the week through August 21, with detected traffic about 90% below the pre-conflict baseline.
