High Court Freezes Levin’s Police-Investigations Appointments Pending Review
The High Court issued an interim order barring new steps to advance appointments in the Justice Ministry's Department for Internal Police Investigations until it rules on pending requests for relief. The order prevents Justice Minister Yariv Levin from appointing a new department director or advancing related leadership selections. Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara supported an injunction, arguing that the process would implement a law formally delayed until the next Knesset and create political control points over appointments and dismissals. Levin argued the law passed before the election was called and the professional selection committee includes no politicians.
