Australia Antisemitism Inquiry Seeks Four-Day Report Extension

Australia’s antisemitism royal commission has asked for four additional days to submit its final report, moving the intended deadline from December 14 to December 18. Commissioner Virginia Bell SC said December 14 marks the first anniversary of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, when 15 people were killed during a Hanukkah celebration, and releasing the report then could distract from memorial observances. The inquiry held 62 hearing days, heard 346 witnesses and received more than 20,000 submissions. Seven Jewish communal organizations said they strongly support the commission and hope its work brings lasting reductions in violence and hatred against Jewish Australians.
