IDF Finds PA Officers Unlawfully Detained Reservist at Area C Roadblock

An IDF investigation found Palestinian Authority officers set up an unauthorized checkpoint on the Strongholds Route in Area C and unlawfully detained reservist Shlomo Rosenthal. The review reversed an initial account that the officers had arrived to protect him from an immediate threat, finding instead that they acted on their own initiative before transferring him to the IDF. Rosenthal said the officers used pepper spray, struck him, took his phone, keys and military-issued weapon, handcuffed him and drove him toward Ramallah. His vehicle was later returned by the IDF and police.
