Winter Says He Will Block an Eisenkot Government After Defense-Minister Rejection

Gadi Eisenkot said Ofer Winter was a good field commander but unsuitable to serve as defense minister in an Eisenkot government because he lacked experience in the IDF's systemic and strategic command. Winter replied that a conceptual and strategic abyss separates them and said he would do everything to prevent such a government. He accused Eisenkot of years of containment and accommodation, citing senior military appointments, and said he was proud not to have been part of that command approach. Eisenkot ally Matan Kahana disputed Winter's record and said a warning that Gaza-bound money reached Hamas's military wing failed to halt the transfer while Winter was military secretary.
