UNIFIL Records 1,030 Projectile Trajectories in Southern Lebanon in One Week

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of UN peacekeepers in blue helmets patrolling on foot along a dirt road through scrub-covered hills as two white armored vehicles follow, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

UNIFIL said peacekeepers recorded 1,030 projectile trajectories in southern Lebanon from August 21 through August 27, an average of 147 per day. The mission said the level of violence was lower than earlier in 2026 but that the situation remained fragile. It reported damage to homes and vital infrastructure as communities struggled to recover. UNIFIL said it continued monitoring developments and working with the parties to prevent further escalation. The release did not attribute the trajectories or provide casualty or location-by-location figures.
