Kisch Says Five-Day School Pilot Will Start in Two Authorities

Education Minister Yoav Kisch said the ministry will begin a pilot of his “New Deal” school plan during the current school year in one local authority and one regional council. The plan would move schools to a five-day week, reduce classes to 20 students and cut instructional hours. Kisch also called for repealing the Long School Day Law and redirecting its budget to municipal afternoon programs. Separately, he said seventh- and eighth-grade pupils will study English through personalized artificial-intelligence learning this year.
