Likud Court Convenes on Appeals That Could Reshape Candidate List

An expanded Likud tribunal panel convened Tuesday to hear post-primary petitions that could alter the party's Knesset slate before candidate lists close September 8. Gila Gamliel, moved to 35th place after a recount, alleges that the Be'er Ya'akov ballot box was unlawfully reopened and cites suspected irregularities at other polling sites. Eti Atiya rose to 25th place in the same recount. Likud institutions say the election and recount followed party rules under legal supervision, while decisions on the petitions are expected within days.
