Khamis Suaed Indicted Over Alleged Preparations to Join ISIS Abroad

Khamis Suaed, 30, of Husniya in the Galilee was indicted in Haifa Magistrate's Court on a charge of training or receiving instruction for terrorist purposes. Prosecutors allege the former IDF soldier became ideologically identified with ISIS from 2023, decided in 2024 to travel to Syria or an African country to join the group, and saved money for the trip. During 2026, he allegedly downloaded guides and watched videos about weapons, military tactics, and manufacturing rockets and drones. Police and the Shin Bet arrested him in August, and prosecutors requested his detention through the proceedings.
