U.S. Jewish Community Security Spending Reaches Record $1.015 Billion

JFNA estimates that annual security spending by U.S. Jewish communities has reached a record $1.015 billion, up 33% from its $765 million estimate in 2024. The study covers more than 4,500 synagogues, community centers, schools, camps and other Jewish nonprofits, averaging about $225,000 per institution, while excluding kosher businesses and Judaica shops. Guards and security directors account for the largest share, and about $150 million goes to technology and building hardening. JFNA President and CEO Eric D. Fingerhut said the need has outpaced available resources and urged Congress to fund the Nonprofit Security Grant Program at $1 billion.
