Police Begin Nationwide Traffic Enforcement Operation as Road Deaths Reach 309

Israel Police began a nationwide traffic-enforcement operation early Wednesday, deploying hundreds of officers, volunteers and patrol vehicles on urban and intercity roads marked as high risk. Enforcement is targeting speeding, red-light violations, shoulder driving, phone use, failure to yield, dangerous passing and lane departures, with special attention to new drivers, motorcyclists and heavy vehicles. Police are also using an aerial unit, drones, tactical and still cameras, laser speed meters and A3 cameras. The operation comes as Israel has recorded 309 road deaths this year, including 10 in the past week.
