British-Somaliland Group Urges Community Not to Back UK Over Israel Policy

The UK branch of the Somaliland-Israel Friendship & Abrahamic Movement urged British-Somalilanders not to support the governing party over its policies toward Israel. In a statement signed by engineer Ahmed Abdillahi Dirie, the group said the government had opposed Israel and betrayed friendship between the communities. It described Israel and Britain as bound by history, shared democratic values, peace and regional stability, and accused ministers of applying an outdated double standard. The statement closed by declaring that the movement stands with Israel ‘yesterday, today, and forever.’
