Rafael said it has begun integrating its SPICE 1000 stand-off munition with the F-35 for the first time, working with Lockheed Martin in the United States. The several-month effort is intended to let Israel’s F-35I Adir aircraft employ the weapon before the capability is offered to other F-35 operators. SPICE 1000 has served with the Israeli Air Force since 2017 and has a stated range of more than 120 kilometers. Its electro-optical seeker uses scene-matching algorithms. An April Pentagon report said the work was progressing under an accelerated SPICE Lite strategy.
