Chris Coons, Backer of U.S.-Israel Security Aid, Wins Delaware Senate Primary

Chris Coons won Delaware’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary with 78.02% of the vote in unofficial results, with 524 of 530 districts reporting. The sitting senator advances to November after defeating Jeff Appelhans, Mary Louve and E. No-Trump Hansen, while absentee ballots remained under count in all three counties. Coons and Senator Marco Rubio previously introduced legislation authorizing $3.3 billion in annual U.S. security assistance to Israel under the bilateral memorandum of understanding. Their measure aimed to strengthen the U.S.-Israel strategic alliance and address threats from Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas.
