The Trump administration is preparing a $2.8 billion munitions sale to Israel that would include 20,000 MK-84 bombs and 20,000 BLU-117 bombs, according to a U.S. official familiar with the package. Each weapon weighs about 900 kilograms, or 2,000 pounds. Relevant congressional committees have received informal notification, while the transaction remains pending and no final sale has been announced. The official described the package as a planned transaction, not a completed transfer. The State Department and Israel’s embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
