Btsalmo Urges Halt to Public Funding of Ofer Cassif’s Legal Defense

Btsalmo asked the public committee responsible for participation in Knesset members’ legal expenses to stop financing Ofer Cassif’s defense following his conviction for aggravated assault on a police officer. Director Shai Glick sent the urgent request on Tuesday morning, demanding an immediate halt to public contributions toward the case. Glick argued that taxpayers should not pay for the defense of a legislator convicted of assaulting an officer. He called for Cassif to cover his own legal costs. The request follows the conviction, rather than announcing a new committee decision on funding.
