Tel Aviv University Reverses Dorm Eviction Over Palestinian-Return Sticker

Tel Aviv University’s disciplinary committee canceled an order removing a student from its dormitories over a laptop sticker calling for the return of Palestinian refugees. Professor Drorit Neumann, the dean of students who chairs the committee, ruled that the dormitory manager lacked authority to impose permanent removal and had failed to notify the dean as required. The decision addressed the procedure used to remove the student. It did not determine whether the sticker itself constituted a disciplinary offense or resolve her claim that her freedom of expression had been infringed.
