IDF Releases Footage of Sinwar’s Killing on Second Anniversary

The IDF released previously unseen footage on Friday of the encounter in which Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in Rafah on October 16, 2024. The footage shows a Merkava tank firing toward his position in the Tel Sultan area. During the original operation, troops spotted three armed terrorists near an engineering force, then used tanks and drones to surround the area. One Israeli soldier was seriously wounded and evacuated during the fighting. Sinwar’s identity was confirmed after troops searched the site the following morning.
