KLM Ordered to Pay NIS 9,037 After Baggage Error Kept Two Passengers Off Flight
Published
Safed Small Claims Court ordered KLM to pay two passengers NIS 7,837 in compensation and expenses, plus NIS 1,200 in legal costs, after a baggage-record error prevented them from boarding a Montreal-Amsterdam flight. The passengers' tickets included two checked bags, but KLM's system showed one. Senior Registrar Yosef Finian accepted their account and rejected KLM's argument that they had reached the gate too late. The passengers declined a replacement itinerary arriving on Shabbat because they observe it, without losing compensation. The court partly allowed their NIS 20,839 claim, rejecting exemplary damages and a separate lost-baggage demand.
