El Al and Foreign Airlines Ask High Court to Limit Passenger-Care Costs

El Al and foreign airlines have asked the High Court of Justice to limit passenger-care obligations arising from flight cancellations during Israel's airspace closure in Operation Roaring Lion. The carriers argue that the state-imposed shutdown prevented flights or practical alternatives while expenses for food, accommodation and ground transportation continued accumulating. They say Transport Minister Miri Regev did not activate an emergency mechanism that could have adjusted those obligations. The petition also includes an alternative request to cap accommodation liability at two nights.
