Israel Gains Partner Status in Pacific Islands Forum

Pacific Islands Forum Secretary-General Baron Divavesi Waqa has notified Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar that Israel has been accepted as a Forum Partner. The decision was taken at the Forum leaders’ meeting in Palau, following Sa’ar’s June visit to Fiji and Israel’s formal application. The partnership is intended to support cooperation on water management, desalination, advanced agriculture, climate adaptation, innovation and sustainable development in line with Pacific priorities. A dedicated PACE Plan is to set out practical cooperation and commitments, with arrangements for implementation and monitoring.
