Mandelblit Says He Asked Police to End Contact With Ben Caspit

Former attorney general Avichai Mandelblit told Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday that he had asked police to end their contact with journalist Ben Caspit during the investigation into Benjamin Netanyahu. Answering defense attorney Amit Hadad on the fourth day of his testimony, Mandelblit said he was concerned that Caspit was directing police activity. He distinguished journalists pursuing their own inquiries from police using a journalist to conduct investigative work. Mandelblit said activity of the latter kind would have required his approval as attorney general.
