Mandelblit Says Netanyahu Case Decisions Were Not Made Under Pressure

Former attorney general Avichai Mandelblit testified on October 12, his second day in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial, that none of his decisions in the cases resulted from pressure. Questioned by defense attorney Amit Hadad, he said he acted according to his professional judgment and that law-enforcement bodies could express their views on opening investigations. Hadad also presented a document concerning contacts with Shlomo Filber, the former Communications Ministry director general who became a state witness in Case 4000. Mandelblit said the described exchange sounded like negotiations to recruit a state witness. Asked whether he had authorized those negotiations, he answered no.
