Danon Challenges U.N. Counterterrorism Expert Over Israel’s Right to Self-Defense

Israel’s U.N. ambassador Danny Danon challenged U.N. counterterrorism expert Ben Saul on Wednesday over Israel’s right to defend its citizens. In a public post addressed to Saul, Danon invoked the October 7 attack, saying terrorists had killed 1,200 people and kidnapped 251. He asked whether Saul would reject a country’s justification for defending itself after such an attack. Danon also questioned whether Israel was being held to a different standard from other countries. His post included a video excerpt featuring Saul.
