Liberman Says He Has Asked Attorney General to Investigate Netanyahu for Treason

Avigdor Liberman said Monday morning that he had asked Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara to open an immediate criminal investigation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on an allegation of treason. The Yisrael Beytenu chairman published a signed letter dated October 26 setting out the request. He alleged that Netanyahu had pressured security chiefs over the preceding month toward steps risking a miscalculation with Iran, seeking war before the election because he feared defeat. These are Liberman’s allegations, rather than established findings. His letter follows his earlier promise to approach the attorney general; it does not establish that an investigation has opened.
