Netanyahu Denies Clash With IDF Chief Over Iran-Related Military Action

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied in a Sunday evening interview that he had clashed with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir over an Iran-related military action before Tuesday’s election. He said the allegation diverted attention from security officials’ warnings that Iran was trying to interfere in the vote. The disputed report, citing unnamed sources, said Zamir had sought further deliberation, written legal authorization and political leaders’ signatures before implementing an unspecified directive. Those sources said the action could rapidly escalate confrontation with Iran; political officials rejected the account as false.
