Netanyahu-Backed Flávio Bolsonaro Rejects Brazil Result, Plans Annulment Bid

Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro said late on October 25 that he would seek annulment of the presidential runoff after refusing to recognize President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s reelection. He said his campaign had engaged lawyers and challenged Supreme Federal Court Justice Cristiano Zanin’s two-hour voting extension. Both campaigns had requested extra voting time in affected areas. The court clarified that the extension applied only to polling stations still open, without reopening closed stations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had publicly wished Bolsonaro victory before the runoff and expressed hope of restoring friendship between Israel and Brazil.
