IDF Conducts Counterterror Arrest Raids in Jenin District
Published
The IDF’s Judea and Samaria Division was carrying out a series of counterterror arrest raids in Jenin district on Tuesday morning, October 27. The division, commanded by Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller, was operating against people suspected of terrorist activity. The operations had been taking place over the preceding several hours and included searches of buildings. The fresh operations follow other counterterror activity the army described in an October 26 statement. In that earlier announcement, the IDF said soldiers from the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit had completed an operation in Qabatiya the previous week, in the Menashe Brigade sector. The army said five terror operatives were arrested there, identifying three as affiliated with Hamas and two with Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The same October 26 statement described a separate operation by the Paratroopers Brigade’s 202nd Battalion, led by the Binyamin Brigade. The army said those forces raided more than 50 targets, searched for weapons and questioned suspects associated with Hamas. That target count concerned the earlier Binyamin operation, rather than Tuesday’s Jenin district raids. The IDF described the earlier operations as part of the division’s “continuing counterterror activity in defense and offense.” The Qabatiya arrests and the Binyamin searches were completed operations described on October 26; Tuesday morning’s report concerns a new series of arrest raids in Jenin district.
